Current discussion
- Austin Conference Style Guide Session - notes available at link
- Form a workgroup to create a "style guide" for developers (implementation focus)?
- Form a workgroup to create a design guide for designers (pattern focus)?
Previous discussion
From Ben Brophy at MIT:
Stephen, can you flesh out why the style guide is an issue? I know it has achieved a lot of discussion by group members. Is it possible that there is another category for this?
I'd like to see particular issues with the style guide, rather than saying the entire document is a problem. The style guide is a collection of design patterns, with usability guidelines and some guidelines for developers included. If there are design patterns that don't work it would be more helpful to address those. For example: "Positioning the cancel button next to the submit button cause uses error" is a useful criticism.
The style guide has been unchanged since June 2005. Is this group to pick up it's development?

Seeing that every PDF distributed uses the web resolution JPG I couldn't pull it out of there.
Any ideas? This is a pretty big gap for anyone wanting to tout Sakai in various printed media.
