Can we integrate Turnitin into sakai at the moment?
I asked this question to Turnitin Firm and i got "we have no plan to do that, we will inform you in case of any progress" response.

Stephen Marquard replies

Yes, UCT has implemented Turnitin support for Sakai. We are running it in production at the moment. It will be available for Sakai 2.4 once the Assignments 2.4.x version is ready (the Assignments included in Sakai 2.4.0 did not include this).

Also at least some people from Turnitin.com are aware of the work that we have done, but perhaps the message that there is a Turnitin integration for Sakai has not yet reached everyone there.

If you are interested in using it in the near future, email me for more details.

Per Wising asks:

We intend to integrate another plagiarism prevention service (Genuine Text, www.genuinetext.com). From the confluence page http://confluence.sakaiproject.org/confluence/display/TII/Home I gather that the ContentReview Service is a general Sakai service rather than Turnitin-specific. Is that correct?

And if so, does the service ship with the Sakai core whereas UCT's Turnitin implementation of the service is in the contrib area?

Stephen Marquard replies

Yes, there is an API called content-review which is in trunk and 2.4.0, support in Assignments (in trunk and the forthcoming tag/release, not 2.4.0) to use the API, and a Turnitin implementation in contrib.

So to support Genuine Text, all that you should need to do is create a new implementation of the service, and it will be available in Assignments. However, while we tried to design the API as generically as possible, it's possible that your implementation may expose new requirements for the API, in which case we're happy to work with you to evolve it.
