Discussion/Argumentation/Collaborative Knowledge Building

  • Belvedere is designed to help support problem-based collaborative learning scenarios with evidence and concept maps.
  • D3E (Digital Document Discourse Environment)
    a tool for document-centric discussion. The toolkit generates a frames-based environment with automatic hyperlinking for navigating around sections, checking citations and footnotes, and tight integration with a discussion space for critiquing documents

Learning Environments

  • ELGG a fully customizable learning landscape. ELGG is a hybrid of weblogging, e-portfolios and social networking. It is hoped this combination of features with help promote student engagement in learning through reflection in an academic and social setting.
  • FLE3 a web-based learning environment.
    Fle3 is designed to support learner and group centered work that concentrates on creating and developing expressions of knowledge (i.e. knowledge artefacts) and design. Fle3 contains three learning tools:
    1) WebTops tool: stores documents, files, links, knowledge building notes)
    2) Knowledge Building tool: groups carry out dialogues, theory building and debates. Knowledge Types (Progressive Inquiryor Design Thinking) scaffold and structure their dialogues.
    3)Jamming tool: for collaborative construction of digital artefacts (pictures, text, audio, video). Jamming can be used for many kind of collaborative work requiring versioning.

Learning Design and Management Tools

  • LAMS for designing, managing and delivering online collaborative learning activities. It provides teachers with a highly intuitive visual authoring environment for creating sequences of learning activities. These activities can include a range of individual tasks, small group work and whole class activities based on both content and collaboration.
