Graduate Tools

Here's Grad Tools in a nutshell. There is further information at
[www.gradtools.umich.edu].

Grad Tools are a collection of tools used to support doctoral students at
the University of Michigan. Graduate students may create a Grad Tools
student site to share information with dissertation committee members. Grad
Tools also includes a unique tool, the Dissertation Checklist, which
presents all the requirements for a doctoral degree to a student. This tool
is used by students and those supporting their progress toward a degree.
Grad Tools is a feature of CTools, the Michigan implementation of Sakai.

There is a project to convert the checklist from legacy technologies to the
Sakai technology suite and to make it available to other Sakai institutions
as a more general purpose checklist that can be used with other academic
degrees and in other workflow applications. The functional specifications of
this tool are described in Confluence under Contrib: Checklist, Use Cases.
We anticipate availability in contrib later this summer.
