CVS Setup in Windows

For windows users, this is about as easy as it gets. These instructions may not be entirely accurate. You will likely have to ply and annoy a developer near you. As Ben notes, not sure if it is worth it at this point:

  1. Load Tortoise CVS http://sourceforge.net/projects/tortoisecvs
  2. Load puttygen http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html
  3. Use puttygen to create a private and public key pair.
  4. Send Glenn a note requesting CVS write access to the module(s) you are working on, e.g, gradebook, along with your public key.
  5. Save your private key to the SSH directory. On my machine it is C:\Documents and Settings\oliver\.ssh\
  6. Create a folder on your desktop named "working" or something like that
  7. Once Glenn has confirmed access, right click on the folder and select CVS checkout
  8. Fill in the form that pops up with the details in the attached image. Ignore the top box. For the bottom box, substitute the module you are working on for gradebook; if you are working on multiple modules, just enter sakai2.
