Any project the size of Sakai needs a source control system. Previously, Sakai used CVS to establish a repository on http://cvs.sakaiproject.org. Sakai has moved to Subversion, a new source control system that is gaining popularity.
The CVS /contrib directory can be accessed anonymously online per the following click path:
1) surf to http://cvs.sakaiproject.org/release/1.5.0/
2) Then click on the links "developer source" or "Sakai Developer Pages", http://cvs.sakaiproject.org/release/1.5.0/index-dev.html
3) Then click on "web cvs" at the bottom of the left-hand set of links, http://cvs.sakaiproject.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb.cgi/.
CVS contrib: http://cvs.sakaiproject.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb.cgi/contrib/.
Each tool in contrib includes code and readme.txt docs. From above as you can see the link to the CVS repository requires a number of clicks to reach.
