Add an assistant in a teaching assistant or instructor role, for such tasks as tracking submitted work, entering grades and monitoring discussion. Use the online gradebook to display student grades, current standing, and comments.
Pedagogy: Encourage face-to-face discussion of grades and other sensitive issues, and field those yourself when appropriate. Check records regularly so that you don't inadvertently lose touch with your students' performance and the tenor of the class.
Platform:
- Provide a fine-grained privilege matrix governing edit and viewing of course components, change logs.
- Allow easy access by section or by course, with different assistants authorized for different sections.
