Considerations and Concerns When Moving from Commercial to Sakai

Speaker(s): Jeshua Pacifici

Date: Thursday 1:15 pm - 1:55 pm
Room: INTL 9

Session Abstract

This session will illustrate lessons learned and provide recommendations for institutions contemplating a move from enterprise-level vendor software to Sakai. Virginia Tech has relied on Blackboard since 1999. Beginnng in 2004, we introduced an open-source portfolio along with Sakai. We are learning what considerations and concerns are essential to make sound decisions toward accomplishing this move.
